Should the Rams Pursue the Giants Former Starting Quarterback?

NFL

The former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is being considered to be a potential replacement for a former Super Bowl champion. During his last season in New York, it was a fiasco as Jones was benched, demoted to fourth on the depth chart, and eventually asked for a release from the Giants altogether. He was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of the season, and now he has hit free agency once again. Currently, the Los Angeles Rams are looking to pick up the former starting quarterback and replace their Super Bowl Champion, Matthew Stafford.

Stafford is getting older, and at the ripe age of 37, it’s time for the Rams to start looking into a younger quarterback, and Jones might be the man for the job. They are looking to develop a younger quarterback and change the quarterback strategy. However, there is still a chance that Stafford may make a return for next season despite the status of this past season. However, the 2025 draft class is not looking so great, considering teams are looking for quarterbacks, and many are increasing in demand for veteran quarterbacks.

Jones may not have had a great record with the Giants and did not play much in Minnesota, but he may have a shot in Los Angeles. He is the hot commodity in free agency, and the Rams bringing in something new and different may be exactly what they need. It could be a great fit, as Jones would finally have the team he needs. If the Rams do decide that they are going to sign him, this will definitely shake up the quarterback landscape. This will also mess things up for many other teams who are looking for franchise quarterbacks this coming year.

It would honestly be great to see some moves be made in the Los Angeles area with the Vikings. It would be different, but the team would benefit from it. Stafford is in contemplation of what he wants to do for next season, even though the team went to the playoffs and ended up getting eliminated in the Divisional Round against the Eagles. He may want to retire, but everything remains up in the air. Jones may still join them, but he will ultimately become a backup quarterback if this is the case.
