Stars Take 2-1 Series Lead Over Oilers

The Dallas Stars took back home court advantage with a 5-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game Three of the Western Conference Finals on Monday night. The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 in the first period behind goals from left-wing Zach Hyman and center Connor McDavid. McDavid recorded one goal and one assist to get him over 100 playoff points. The Stars did their damage in the second period, scoring three goals in a span of just over three and a half minutes. Two goals came from left wing Jason Robertson and one goal was from center Wyatt Johnston.

Halfway through the third period, Robertson slid the puck past goaltender Stuart Skinner to break a 3-3 tie. It was his third goal of the game, giving him a hat trick performance. Defensemen Miro Heiskanen scored a wrist shot goal late in the game to help seal the Stars’ win. Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger recorded 26 saves. The trio of left-wing Jamie Benn plus centers Tyler Seguin and Roope Hintz, had two assists each.

The Stars were also the league’s top team on the road, picking up their sixth postseason win away from home. The Stars had 22 blocked shots while the Oilers had 15. The Stars also had 17 takeaways and the Oilers had just seven. Game Four is on a 48-hour turnaround, Wednesday night in Edmonton.
