To Early Match Card Predictions for SummerSlam

WWE

The party of the summer known as SummerSlam is less than three months away and it’s time to start thinking about what matches could take place. SummerSlam has been known to have some shocking moments over the years. Who knows what will happen this year in Cleveland? Could we see some returns? Could we see some babyface/heel turns? We’ll certainly find out on August 3rd at the Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Nia Jax vs Bayley (WWE Women’s Championship)

Nia Jax won the Queen of the Ring Tournament Saturday in Jeddah after squashing Lyra Valkyria in the finals. Now she gets her opportunity to challenge Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship. Bayley will have quite the task ahead of her as she has to take on a woman with all the momentum on her side. Will Bayley retain her title against the “Irresistible Force?” Or will Nia Jax defeat Bayley to win her second singles championship in her career?

Gunther vs Damian Priest (World Heavyweight Championship)

Gunther is the new King of the Ring after he defeated Randy Orton in the finals in Saudi Arabia. He has now earned himself a World Heavyweight Championship title match against Damian Priest at SummerSlam. This will be quite a match to watch as two powerhouses go toe-to-toe in the squared circle. Will Damian Priest retain? Will Gunther have his moment of glory and win the World Heavyweight Championship?

Cody Rhodes vs The Rock (WWE Universal Championship)

At WrestleMania 40, The Rock and his cousin Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins to determine the stipulation for the Night Two match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship as “Bloodline Rules.” Cody Rhodes “finished his story” and defeated Roman Reigns for the Championship thanks to outside distractions from Jey Uso, John Cena, and The Undertaker. On the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock told Cody Rhodes that he may have finished his story, but our story is just beginning. The Rock said he has to go away for a while, but SummerSlam would be an ideal return date for “The Final Boss.”

Roman Reigns, Jimmy and Jey Uso vs Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa

With Jey Uso now 0-7 in singles championship matches, it may be time for a reunion with his brother Jimmy Uso, after he comes back from injury, to take on Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline which consists of Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa. There’s no event quite like SummerSlam where you can see huge returns and Roman Reigns would fit the bill perfectly. Roman could return at SummerSlam as a babyface to team with the Usos against the new Bloodline. The fans will get out of their seats going crazy for “The Tribal Chief” and acknowledge him as he walks down to the ring.

Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan (Women’s World Championship)

Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Championship with a mistaken distraction from “Dirty” Dominick Mysterio on Saturday in Jeddah. After an attack backstage from Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley was forced to vacate her Women’s World Championship due to a shoulder injury over a month ago. A perfect return for Rhea could be at SummerSlam where Ripley could flip the script on Morgan by making it Rhea’s Revenge Tour. The match could have two prizes: one being the Women’s World Championship and the other being the custody of Dominick Mysterio.

CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre

CM Punk made his long-awaited return to WWE after 10 years of being away from the company. Since he’s been back, he’s made some enemies, Drew McIntyre being one of them. Punk injured his tricep in the 2024 Royal Rumble match and has been out ever since. Drew said after that, “I prayed for this to happen, and it did.” McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, then got attacked by CM Punk following the match, leading to a successful Money in the Bank cash-in by Damian Priest to win the title. Punk has been living rent-free inside Drew’s head since then, mentioning CM Punk in his promos so many times. These two will meet at SummerSlam and put on a great match because the fans really want to see it.

Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable (Intercontinental Championship)

After Sami Zayn defeated Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship a little over a month ago on Raw, Gable turned heel and attacked Sami from behind after the match in anger thinking it should've been him to win the title. He also lost in a triple-threat match this past weekend in Saudi Arabia where he had to take on both Sami Zayn and “Big” Bronson Reed. His craving for the Intercontinental Championship is second to none as he’s lost to both the most recent Intercontinental Champion title holders, Gunther, and now Sami Zayn. I believe these two will meet again at SummerSlam, but Gable’s time will come to win the title.

Logan Paul vs John Cena (United States Championship)

Ever since Logan Paul arrived on the scene in WWE, he’s been pulling off things that no one would ever expect in the ring. At Crown Jewel last November, Paul defeated Rey Mysterio to win his first singles title in WWE, the United States Championship. This past weekend in Saudi Arabia, he lost to Cody Rhodes for the WWE Universal Championship. As we look forward to SummerSlam in Logan Paul’s hometown of Cleveland, we wonder who his opponent will be. I believe the answer is John Cena because who wouldn’t want to see this match? It’s an Icon vs Icon type of match and John Cena has brought so much prestige to the United States Championship for years to come.
