Steelers vs. Cowboys Week Five Preview
The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to face the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday night at the Steel City’s home field, Acrisure Stadium. After a somewhat sloppy performance against the Indianapolis Colts last week, the Steelers are likely looking to put on a better performance with less error. Week Four for the Steelers was a nonstop performance of fumbles, poor defense, and miscommunication. It’s no secret that many fans and even coaching staff complain that the Steelers can’t seem to stay out of their own way, contributing to games such as the one they played last week. In Week Five, the Pittsburgh team is facing a team coming off the heels of a victory over the New York Giants and is eager to expand this streak and their 2-2 records.
Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers has explained that Justin Fields is likely to start again this week, as Russell Wilson still struggles to overcome his calf injury sustained during preseason. Though Fields’ Week Four performance got off to a rough start, he was able to get back up to speed, throwing for 300 yards and running for 50. However, in order to soundly defeat the Cowboys, Fields must be prepared to hit the ground running and remain strong throughout the entirety of the game. Additionally, the Steelers’ defense must return to their former dominant performances after this past week, where they struggled as the Colts racked up eight third-down conversions.
Even though they had a somewhat sloppy performance against the Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers should be feeling optimistic going into this week, as the Dallas Cowboys have objectively bad offense and defense teams. In fact, the Cowboys’ offense currently ranks worst in the league for generating substantial plays in the running game, and their defense ranks last in the NFL in rushing yards given up per game. Additionally, the Cowboys recently placed DeMarcus Lawrence, a crucial defensive end on injury reserve following a foot injury. As long as the Steelers can stay out of their own way, they should be able to handily beat the Cowboys in Week Five.
