Thanksgiving Day Battle: Giants Gear up for Another Showdown with Dallas
The New York Giants are gearing up to play against one of their biggest rivals again. In Week 12, on Thanksgiving, they will be playing The Dallas Cowboys. It’s been a rough season as it is, and if there’s any hope left for this team, there is very little. They suffered a brutal loss last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and even before that, things have gone downhill. There are tons of things the Giants need to think over before they take on Dallas for the second time this year.
The quarterback situation is not solid. Tommy DeVito was to take over the team after the release of Daniel Jones. However, with the disastrous game against the Buccaneers, DeVito got injured. It was announced on Tuesday that DeVito suffered from a forearm injury, and there is a possibility he cannot play on Thursday. This leaves Drew Lock to cover for the team if he can’t play. They also have Tim Boyle as their third backup, but it could be a surprise to everyone as to what’s about to happen on Thanksgiving. The Giants have really been full of surprises all season.
The offensive line needs to do better. They need to be there for their quarterback, whoever it may be at this point. The left tackle position has been a huge struggle. They have put in several different bodies since Andrew Thomas went out with injuries and it just doesn’t seem to do them any justice at all. Getting the ball out seems to be a problem too. The Giants need to find a way to work together, not as individuals. With their upcoming game against the Cowboys, they may be able to move the ball down the field, but there are no guarantees.
The defensive line is also struggling. They are allowing openings everywhere, and this is not a good sign. There's a possibility, as in their first meeting, that Dallas could break through and score on several occasions. The Giants need to improve, but they haven't found the solution yet. However, this may not be the year.
The Giants have really fallen apart by the end of the season. There are no playoffs for them, and they are considered one of the bottom teams out of all 32 in the NFL. We’ve reached the point in the season where fans won’t watch anymore, and they were even booed off the field during last weekend's game. Hopefully, they can pull it together for Thanksgiving; if not, they should lose the rest of their games and aim for a decent first-round pick in the draft.
