The Atlanta Braves Are Extremely Desperate

MLB

Last night, the Atlanta Braves acquired back their 2021 World Series MVP Jorge Soler and right-handed reliever Luke Johnson from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Tyler Matzek and Minor League infielder Sabin Ceballos. After all the injuries Atlanta has suffered within their lineup including last year’s National League MVP Ronald Acuña Jr., the Braves are extremely desperate to bring back Soler in order to make another postseason push. The big question is how far can this Braves team go during the postseason? They’re currently eight and a half games behind the dangerously hot Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have a ton of work to do in the remainder of the second half of the season if they want to consider this season a success after all the hurdles they’ve dealt with thus far.

Soler has played 93 games with the Giants this season. In 341 at-bats, he’s recorded 82 hits, 12 home runs, and 40 RBIs with a .240 batting average. These numbers are certainly a step below of what Soler was able to accomplish last season with the Miami Marlins. Now that he’s back with the team he won World Series MVP with, expect the 2021 World Series MVP to try and boost the Braves offense. With him, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna, this team has another dangerous set of hitters that could do some damage. It will be interesting to see if Soler can perform better in Atlanta than when he was with the Giants.

This Braves team is certainly desperate to go back and trade for their former World Series MVP. They know that the National League Wild Card race will come down till the bitter end of the regular season and they can use all the help they can get. Atlanta has been in a win-now mode ever since winning the World Series in 2021. They are determined to head back and play in November once again. With all the brutally challenging teams in the NL, it will certainly be a heavy task to fight their way back to the World Series.
