Sanders had 1548 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. He seemed to carry the offense and turned the Lions into a competitive team. First, Sanders helped the Lions win their division, which was called the NFL NFC Central at the time. The Lions finished that regular season 12-4. Barry Sanders led the Lions to the postseason too. The Lions beat the Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the playoffs with a score of 38-6. The Lions then lost to the Washington Redskins 41-10 in the NFC Conference Championship. It was a tremendous season that put the Lions on the map.
