Three Players the Knicks Should Target at the Deadline

NBA

The New York Knicks starting five are finally coming to fruition. Mitchell Robinson looks to make his return in the coming weeks and provides much-needed depth. However, the Knicks could look to add depth elsewhere as the bench has been very lackluster. Tom Thibodeau has run these starters into the ground, so depth could help space out the stars with regards to rest. Here are three guys the Knicks should look to target ahead of the trade deadline to make this team a serious contender.

Jordan Clarkson

The Knicks have a lot of depth at the backup guard currently, Miles McBride and Cameron Payne have been serving their roles well, but adding a true slashing guard like Jordan Clarkson could be crucial. Always in the running for a Sixth Man of the Year award, Clarkson could be a gritty guard off the bench that provides some length as well with his figure. Giving Jalen Brunson a break with a guy like Clarkson could benefit the Knicks and allow them to not miss a beat.

Kyle Kuzma

The Knicks have no forwards currently off the bench, trying to fit Landry Shamet into this role but he hasn’t been all that efficient. Kyle Kuzma could be that guy after being kicked to the bench of the Washington Wizards with their talent coming up from the draft. Kuzma is a great three-and-d-forward who could help give guys like OG Anunoby and Josh Hart a break. Being able to bring Kuzma in as a bench piece could help fuel the run.

Walker Kessler

The Knicks will be adding Mitchell Robinson back to the rotation shortly but could look to put him into the starting lineup and shift Karl-Anthony Towns to the four. The Knicks have been using Precious Achiuwa to serve in the backup center role. Adding a guy like Walker Kessler would give the Knicks much-needed depth with a bunch of injury-prone guys currently at the center role. Kessler was a target before the season and wouldn’t be a bad idea to inquire about him right now.

Jordan Weissman

Jordan Weissman plans to graduate in 2025 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He has grown up with a niche for sports and aspires to work as a sports broadcaster.
