The Giants Need to Get the Ball Into Nabers Hands

NFL

There have been a lot of questions for the Giants on the status of Malik Nabers. He’s been pretty quiet for the last several weeks. However, it's not his fault as to why he has been. They have not gotten the ball into his hands, and Nabers has been suffering through pain in his hip and groin. However, he has been pushing through for the Giants and is determined to keep going. He wants to play, and it shows.

Nabers hasn’t been able to do much since his return from his concussion earlier this season. He’s growing more frustrated with his team. He is wide open from across the field, however, his quarterback, no matter who it is, has always thrown it in a different direction that he is not in. Nabers wants the ball because he knows he can get the points on the board no matter what happens. He proved that during Sunday’s game against the Saints. He has even called the Giants out on several occasions for this matter, and it has not been in just this game.

If the Giants were to land the ball in Nabers’ hands more often, it would make all the difference in the world. He may have had a few drops here and there, but so has everyone else who plays on the team. When the ball does get in Nabers’ hands, things become explosive, and he takes off with it. There was a point in Sunday's game where Nabers nearly had the ball, and he was able to almost make a touchdown despite coming up short. It would have been the first touchdown for Nabers in weeks. During this game, Nabers also was the man who scored the extra two points that the Giants needed.

During his time at LSU, he was considered one of the top players and a significant asset when the Giants drafted him this past year. He played in 38 games, recording 21 touchdowns and 189 receptions for a total of 3,003 yards. With stats like these and Nabers already breaking records for the Giants, he is proving to be a key player. The question now is: why won’t the Giants give him the ball, despite everything he has done in both college football and the NFL? The Giants need to start making better decisions and involving not only him but the rest of the team more during this rebuild. If they can draft a standout quarterback next season, that might also help Nabers get the ball more often. He is truly great and a player fans look forward to seeing on the field every week.
