The Philadelphia Phillies and the Playoffs

MLB

The Phillies are heading to the postseason for the third year, ready to play in October. Their recent win, a clear demonstration of their potential, has set the stage for an exciting series of games in the coming weeks. The Phillies have secured the second seed in the National League, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Their recent win against Washington has further solidified their position. If they continue this momentum and reach the World Series, they may even have the home-field advantage over the New York Yankees.

The Phillies have more things to work on before any of it can become a reality, but after the game the other night, they looked better and better. Sunday was considered to be a crucial game that they played. Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto did not play in this game. Nick Castellanos had his 162nd start but exited when the second inning came around. Trea Turner departed in the seventh.

This game was one of the most historic for the Phillies. The Phillies won 6-3 to finish 95-67, the sixth-highest total win in their franchise. Kody Clemens was the one who finished it all for them. He saved their game by making a leap into the wall in left field while all of the bases were loaded.

Aaron Nola pitched at the beginning of this game but was injured after he took a line drive to the hip. It did not hit bone, but it did hit him slightly. He finished at 199 ⅓. He was just shy of 200 outs for the season. Zack Wheeler wasn’t too far behind. Nola labored through his injury until he was pulled out during the fifth inning.

The Phillies will not play during wildcard week. However, they will have a break on Monday and a training day on Tuesday. Every other day this coming week will either be full of training or breaks before this weekend's playoff games start. They will play again on Friday night and then at the same time again on Saturday. This team has been waiting for this moment since the last pitch of the 2023 season.
