These Two Teams Are on A Defining Win Streak

MLB

During the long, grueling 162-game MLB season, many teams catch fire throughout the season, while others go ice cold. Last night, two teams extended their win streaks, and look poised as we head closer to the all-star break. These two teams are on a defining winning streak with their end goals being two completely different reasons. The Cleveland Guardians and the Houston Astros will aim to be a part of the American League postseason mix and make a long-lasting impression. It will be interesting to see how long these two teams can keep their win streaks intact.

Last night after a 10-8 win over the Baltimore Orioles, the Cleveland Guardians have won their seventh game in a row. Their win streak started on Wednesday, June 19th when they defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-0. After this win, Cleveland went on to defeat Seattle for a second straight game to win the series. Next, they swept the Toronto Blue Jays during a three-game series. Finally, they won the first two games of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, who have now lost five in a row. In last night’s 10-8 win, six of the nine guys in the Guardians lineup recorded at least one RBI. They currently hold a 51-26 record and an eight-and-a-half-game lead over the second-place 43-35 Minnesota Twins.

For the Houston Astros, they just won their sixth game in a row after taking a 5-2 win over the struggling Colorado Rockies. Houston’s win streak also started on June 19th. They won the last two games of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox, then swept the Baltimore Orioles, and finally won the first game of a two-game series against the Rockies. Remember when this team struggled at the beginning of the season, and all the talk was about this Astros team finally crumbling? Well, now they are 39-40 and are just four and a half games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners. Their struggles from the beginning of the season will be talked about for a long time if Houston ends up in the postseason mix, and their sustained success over the past few weeks has been incredible to see.
