Three Players the Giants Should Look to Move at the Deadline
The New York Giants sustained a loss in Acrisure Stadium when they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-18. Daniel Jones was nearly immaculate until the final five minutes of the game when he turned the ball over not once, but twice thanks to a TJ Watt strip sack that he also recovered and a Beanie Bishop interception on their final drive to close the game out. The Giants should look to turn their heads to next season after a 2-6 start to the season and might look to build future draft assets. The Giants might look to these three guys to move at the deadline if they do go to the sell route.
1. Azeez Ojulari
The Giants could look to move Azeez Ojulari at the deadline after he has started a campaign with Kayvon Thibodeaux going down to injury. Registering five sacks in the last three games, Azeez has made his presence known off the edge and definitely deserves an increase in playing time. The Giants could look to ship off the fourth-year edge rusher out of Georgia to a contender that lacks an edge presence or is looking for depth at the position. The six foot three 240 pound outside linebacker could have a new home at the deadline.
2. Darius Slayton
After initially starting the season as the Giants wide receiver three, Darius Slayton has stepped up in various games this season. Recording 100 yards in two of the eight games he has appeared in this season, Slayton could be a third receiver on a team looking to make a run this year. A team like the Chiefs could benefit from adding Slayton to pair alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Xavier Worthy as a good change of pace guy between the two. Slayton has been a Giants favorite, but might not be in Giants blue for much longer after this season. The Giants hope to shop Slayton for a third or fourth-round draft pick.
3. Isaiah Simmons
One of the most versatile players in the National Football League is Isaiah Simmons. Lining up all over the defense for the Giants and also playing a role on special teams. Simmons could be an addition to any defense as a plug-and-play type of guy, lining him up on the edge or in the secondary. Simmons has been the type of guy to make explosive plays when given the opportunity. If he is presented with an opportunity to succeed elsewhere, he could be a difference maker as soon as he is moved out of New York.
