Three Potential Opponents for John Cena’s Farewell Tour in 2025

WWE

Last week at Money in the Bank, John Cena came out to the ring to announce his official retirement from the WWE. He claimed that 2025 is going to be his last year of in-ring competition. The Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania XLI in Las Vegas are where Cena claims he’ll be competing in one last time as well as a few other dates until the end of 2025. One of the biggest questions the fans are wondering is, “Who will John Cena’s final opponents be on his farewell tour?” Cena’s options for opponents are limitless, but a few names come to mind on the subject.

Randy Orton

This is a match that everybody wants to see one last time. Randy Orton has faced off against John Cena a total of 261 times, with Orton securing 44 of those wins against Cena. In their rivalry over the years, it’s safe to say that John Cena has had the upper hand most of the time, but you should never count out Randy Orton against John Cena. The greatest clash between the two, in my mind, would have to be their Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at TLC 2013 to become the first-ever WWE World Heavyweight Championship, in which Randy Orton came out victorious. If these two were to run it back one last time, I could definitely see it happening at WrestleMania in Las Vegas.

CM Punk

CM Punk vs John Cena matches in the past were always special, considering the fact that two polarizing figures were on opposite sides of the ring from one another. Over the years, Punk and Cena both have six victories over one another and two draws, with all 14 of these matches occurring between 2009 and 2013. They need to settle the score, which is the perfect reason for Punk and Cena to square off one more time. The Money in the Bank match in 2011 between the two for the WWE Championship was the most iconic because Punk stated he would walk away from WWE with the championship, and he did just that. CM Punk even said in the Money in the Bank post-press conference last week that he wants Cena to lace up the boots one last time against him. Hopefully, we get to see this match one last time because the fans are craving it.

The Rock

The Rock and John Cena’s first clash at WrestleMania 28 was advertised a year in advance during the Raw after WrestleMania 27. The Rock defeated Cena at WrestleMania 28, then the following year at WrestleMania 29; these two faced off for the WWE Championship, which Cena won. Fast forward 11 years later to WrestleMania 40 this past April, where The Rock stood face-to-face with John Cena again during the WWE Undisputed Championship bout between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. The Rock delivered a Rock Bottom to John Cena after their standoff. With The Rock promising to finish his story with Cody Rhodes down the line, maybe “The Final Boss” has a little more left in the tank to clash one last time with John Cena.
