Three Sleeper Teams Going Into the 2024 MLB Season
The 2024 MLB season is quickly approaching. It’s always fun to think about what players or teams are going to break out in the upcoming season. We know that teams like the Dodgers, Braves, Astros and Yankees. What teams are going to break out? What teams are going to make some noise this season?
3. St. Louis Cardinals
After a 71-91 record in 2023, landing them a fifth-place finish in the NL Central, the Cardinals are looking to bounce back in a big way. Down years from Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado led to their struggles. However, signing pitchers like Sonny Gray and Andrew Kittredge and shortstop Brandon Crawford should help the overall flexibility of their roster. They also need 21-year-old outfielder Jordan Walker to have a big year.
2. Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox play in the American League East, which is widely considered one of the best divisions in baseball. They came in fifth place last season with a 78-84 record. However, if they can get bounce-back seasons from Trevor Story and newly acquired starting pitcher Lucas Giolito, they can be a lot better than expected. They have stars like Rafael Devers and Bryan Bello who could mesh well with young players like Triston Casas and Jarren Duran.
1. Chicago Cubs
The Cubs have a very nice roster on paper. They came in second place in the National League Central, going 83-79. With guys like Seiya Suzuki, Dansby Swanson Christian Morel, and Ian Happ. They also went out and signed reliever Hector Neris. After re-signing star outfielder Cody Bellinger, they are looking like they have a solid chance at winning the Central this upcoming season. With it looking like the Brewers seeming like they're going to start rebuilding; it might be the Cubs division to take.
