Timberwolves Show Off in Game Two Win over the Suns
After absolutely cooking the Phoenix Suns in Game One, the Minnesota Timberwolves aimed to perform the same way in their first win of this first-round Western Conference series. Although the Suns shot better from beyond the arc, and grabbed two more rebounds than the T-Wolves, Minnesota went to the foul line 30 times, knocking 26 free-throws down in this dominating 105-93 win. Now with a 2-0 lead, the Timberwolves will now head to Phoenix where they will look to prove themselves in this playoff atmosphere away from their hometown fans. If Minnesota can take a 3-0 lead in the series on Friday night, the T-Wolves will have a mighty good chance of sweeping the Suns, who were looked at as an NBA Title contender heading into this season.
Both of these teams went back and forth with one another during the first 12 minutes of action and ultimately, the T-Wolves walked away with a three-point lead. Phoenix would take the lead and try to run with it during the second quarter. They held a nine-point lead at one point before Minnesota chopped the lead down to one going into halftime. These two teams showed how badly they wanted that Game Two win with both teams battling it out. The Suns held the lead early on in the third before the Timberwolves took control. Minnesota led by 10 at one point after a three-pointer from Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
The T-Wolves were up seven going into the final quarter of action. During the fourth, Minnesota trounced and took their opportunity to shine, as they would hold a 19-point lead with less than five minutes remaining. The T-Wolves benched their starters in the final two minutes, as they knew at this point, they were going to walk away with the win, and they did to take a 12-point win at home.
Surprisingly enough, Jaden McDaniels led all scorers with 25 points in addition to having eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Both Mike Conley and Karl-Anthony Towns had 18 points each in the win. Anthony Edwards struggled in this Game Two win and hopes he can redeem himself after recording 15 points on three of 12 shooting. Edwards also put up five rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and a block. Devin Booker led the Suns with 20 points, while also recording three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Kevin Durant scored 18 points on six of 15 shooting in Phoenix’s loss.
