Top CFB Matchups in Week Two

Ann Arbor, MI - The number three ranked, Texas Longhorns travel to the “Big House” as they face the #10 ranked Michigan Wolverines. College Gameday will be in attendance as this seems to be the consensus game of the week in the world of College Football. Personally, this is a game that will be much closer than what the number suggests. Regardless of how talented your football team is, it is no easy feat to walk into the Wolverines’ home stadium and come out with a victory.

Michigan didn’t look like the National Championship-level team the industry expected them to look like, especially against an inferior opponent Fresno State. Meanwhile, Texas had no trouble with Colorado State. Without a doubt, The “Big House” is one of the most difficult places to play in. This game is going to be a low-scoring dogfight. It’s going to be physical, entertaining, and have an electric atmosphere. Texas has a far superior roster and I believe they can get the job done, but not sure they can cover the full number.

Syracuse, NY -  Georgia Tech has broken to the seal and entered the top 25 as they rank as the #23 team in the land. Syracuse is ready for this epic battle. These two teams have only met five times, Georgia Tech leads all-time four to one. There is potential to see a ton of points in this game. To say the least, Georgia Tech has been exciting to watch this year. Starting with their first game of the year, they upset Florida State in Dublin. They took care of business with Georgia State the week after. Syracuse is going to have their hands full dealing with Haynes King and company.

Night Slate:

Winston-Salem, NC - What might be the most underrated game of Week Two, Virginia travels to Wake Forest in what is to be a game of extreme importance. The winner has a great chance to make a bowl game. However, the loser’s chances of making a bowl game take a dramatic hit. I believe that this game is going to come down to whoever has the last possession. Wake Forest is only a one-point favorite and the total is at 55.5.

Charlotte, NC - Just down the road from Winston-Salem, the Wolfpack take on the Volunteers of Tennessee. This is supposed to be a neutral site, but I expect the crowd to be filled to the brim with red and white. Tennessee is a double-digit favorite and industry experts expect the Vols to roll. I don’t. Historically, the Wolfpack have not fared well in the month of September, they are 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games played in September. With Grayson McCall at the helm, I have faith in this Wolfpack team to keep it close and potentially pull off the upset.

Eugene, OR - The number seven Oregon Ducks are hosting the Boise State Broncos. Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos are coming in, guns firing. Jeanty is one of the best running backs in America, let alone the Mountain-West Conference. He ran for 267 yards and six touchdowns, on 20 carries, against Georgia Southern. Meanwhile, Oregon struggled to score against FCS opponent, Idaho. Dillon Gabriel and the Ducks’ offense didn’t have trouble moving the ball, but they could not find the end zone consistently. Similar to the Tennessee vs. NC State matchup, I believe this spread to be too big. Oregon are 19-point favorites and as of right now, I don’t believe the Ducks to be 19 points better than this Boise State team.
