Twins Win 10th Game in A Row

MLB

Just over a week and a half ago, the Minnesota Twins were at a 7-13 record. Since then, they’ve won 10 games in a row, which marks their longest win streak since 2008 when they won nine in a row. Minnesota is now at a 17-13 record, and yet they’re still in fourth place within the AL Central division trailing behind the Tigers, Royals, and the Guardians. Even with this win streak intact, the Twins must continue to play great baseball if they want to challenge their division rivals for that top spot. This Twins team first took down the Chicago White Sox in a four-game series, then swept the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in a three-game series, and finally, the Twins swept the White Sox again, this time in a three-game bout.

Yes, seven games from this Twins winning streak are coming against the White Sox who pose the worst record in baseball at 6-25. Nonetheless, this Twins team has the talent to win the division just like they did a season ago. They may have had some early struggles, but with a 10-game winning streak in place, don’t expect this team’s motivations to die down anytime soon. Minnesota will be heading back home for their next series, a three-game matchup that pits the Twins against the Boston Red Sox. Boston has their own winning streak going as they won their last four games, winning two games against the Chicago Cubs, and two against the San Francisco Giants. If the Red Sox win today, their win streak will be extended to five games as they face the red-hot Twins.

Minnesota’s 10th win in a row came at a price as center fielder Byron Buxton exited the game during the second inning due to knee soreness. In 91 at-bats, Buxton has recorded 22 hits, one home run, 11 RBIs, and a stolen base with a .242 batting average. The Twins are now in the same position they were in last year 30 games into the season with their 17-13 record. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said this, “It’s amazing how the emotional swings work in our game, but right now, I think there’s a lot of guys in that clubhouse feeling good about themselves, and they should.” How long do you think this Minnesota Twins win streak will hold up for?
