Unrivaled Basketball Welcomes a New Player to the Team

Unrivaled Basketball announced today that they have signed Brittney Sykes, a Washington Mystics guard. Unrivaled Basketball is a women's professional three-on-three basketball league formed by three-time Olympic gold medalist Breanna Stewart and two-time Olympic gold medalist Napheesa Collier. Sykes is the twenty-first WNBA player to join the Unrivaled Basketball roster, with only nine more to be announced before the league officially begins in January 2025. As Sykes adjusts to this new style, fans and teammates alike are eager to see how she performs on the court.

Sykes had an injury early in the regular WNBA season, keeping her out of action until after the Olympics. She returned to compete in August with two other previously injured starters, Karlie Samuelson and Shakira Austin. After defeating the Indiana Fever 92-91, the Washington Mystics had the opportunity to secure the final opening in the 2024 WNBA Playoffs. Unfortunately, they were removed from contention when the Atlanta Dream defeated the New York Liberty. Nonetheless, the Washington Mystics' efforts throughout the season are commendable. The Mystics dropped twelve games to start the season before scoring their first win over the Atlanta Dream. Despite losing three of its starting lineup, the Mystics showed tenacity, as women like Emily Engstler and Julie Vanloo were unafraid to step up to the bat.

Brittney Sykes’ decision to join Unrivaled Basketball marks a significant milestone in her career. As a seasoned WNBA player, she brings a wealth of experience and talent to a newly established league. Her involvement not only elevates the competitive level of the league but also underscores Unrivaled Basketball’s commitment to showcasing top-tier talent in women’s basketball. Fans should expect intriguing matchups and the distinct enthusiasm that Sykes will bring to the new league.
