Was Micah Parsons Snubbed from an All-Pro Team?
The most recent NFL All-Pro teams were recently selected, and the Dallas Cowboys had three players make those teams. KaVontae Turpin earned his second career All-Pro nod at kick returning after an impressive season. Another special teamer who earned All-Pro honors was kicker Brandon Aubrey, making his second career All-Pro team. Lastly, the reliable CeeDee Lamb made his third consecutive All-Pro team even after missing the season's last two games. Despite having three members, Dallas may argue one person should have joined those three. After making the All-Pro team every year in his career, Micah Parsons did not make it this time around. Despite missing four games, Parsons has a clear case for why he could have made it.
Parsons ended his 2024-2025 campaign with 12 sacks in his 13 games, which ranked tied for fifth. He also was top in the NFL in pressures and QB hurries, having 75 and 21 in each category. Parsons’ stats themselves speak highly of his performance, but how Parsons changed Dallas' defense to end the year is what truly speaks volumes. His return to the defense kicked off with two sacks on Jalen Hurts and the Eagles and just continued for the rest of the season. Parsons' season also ended with some NFL history, becoming only the second-ever player, behind Reggie White, to record 12 sacks in his first four seasons.
To say Parsons could have replaced either Myles Garrett or the sack leader, Trey Hendrickson, is a difficult conversation to have. However, Parsons argues to make the second team. Parsons arguably could have replaced the Steelers T.J. Watt based on his play. Watt only recorded 53 in pressures in comparison to Micah. Parsons also edged out Watt in sacks, having more than him on the season. Parsons’ stats also come close to Watt's in tackles and tackles for losses; he may not beat Watt, but considering he missed four games speaks to Parsons’ talent. As Parsons and Watt have the same impact on their defenses, Parsons at his level raises a mediocre Cowboys defense to new heights. As Watt already works with a solid one of his own, they can hang in when he’s not there.
