The Lakers came out firing in the first quarter, with contributions from across the roster pushing them to an early 15-4 lead within the first five minutes. Their energy and efficiency on both ends of the court extended the lead to 19-8 shortly after. However, the Kings began to find their rhythm, slowly chipping away at the deficit and narrowing the gap to 22-17. D’Angelo Russell made a strong impact off the bench, adding 14 points and giving the Lakers some much-needed offensive support. The quarter ended with the Lakers up 86-80, keeping the game tightly contested heading into the final stretch.
