Who Will Be the Giants Quarterback Next Year?
The Giants have statistically been one of the worst teams offensively this season. They continued that trend this week, getting blown out at home by the NFC East division rival Philadelphia Eagles. People have tried not to point fingers at him, but I think it’s time to say that the problems have stemmed from the quarterback, Daniel Jones. He has looked very conservative, just simply trying to keep his job as the starter. Drew Lock got some run in garbage time, but he too looked putrid. The question will be who will the Giants turn to next year as Brian Daboll seems to be sticking with Daniel Jones as far as this year.
Cam Ward
After transferring from Washington State to Miami, Cam Ward has been getting all the looks and putting himself into serious contention for the Heisman. While he has his highest interception percentage of his career at this point in the season, he currently leads the FBS in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. Standing at six foot two inches and weighing 223 pounds, Ward is also a threat outside of the pocket averaging just under five and a half yards a carry. Adding Ward to the Giants would cater to the offense they have built with Ward being a great complement to the rookie sensation Malik Nabers.
Shedeur Sanders
Probably the biggest risk of the three candidates, Shedeur Sanders has been interesting, to say the least. Leading the FBS currently in completions and the Big 12 in completion percentage and passing touchdowns, Sanders has been flashy, using the current Heisman favorite Travis Hunter to his advantage. He has been getting sacked a lot and lost two games this year, one in last-second fashion, but has still been able to win ball games for the Colorado Buffaloes. Sanders could fit perfectly in the Giants’ offense with the aggressive play style he has as Jones often competes conservatively.
Jalen Milroe
Adding to the list of talented quarterbacks going through Alabama is Jalen Milroe. The most recent of the quarterbacks to be drafted is Bryce Young, whose career has been off to an awful start. Milroe hopes to change that narrative. More known for his legs than his arm, he has gotten into the end zone in back-to-back seasons as a runner at least 10 times. He has been a dual-threat quarterback that opposing defenses hate to match up against. While Alabama hasn’t had the greatest season, dropping two games, Milroe still has the potential to bring this team to the playoffs with two ranked opponents still left on the schedule. Milroe hopes to bring a dual-threat presence to whatever team drafts him. Putting him in the Giants’ system could be useful as they already cater to Jones’ rushing.
