Will Jalen Brunson Finally Be an All-Star This Season?

NBA

Back in 2022, point guard Jalen Brunson signed a four-year 104-million-dollar contract with his hometown team, the New York Knicks. Since being with the Knicks, Brunson, and the team have elevated to new heights and will look to go deep in the playoffs, trying to make the playoffs for the second season in a row. Even when he broke out last season, helping the team win 47 games, Jalen was snubbed from the all-star team. New York just acquired OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa from the Toronto Raptors, following the trade the Knicks have gone 2-0, with Brunson adjusting incredibly well to his new teammates. With Brunson and co-star Julius Randle leading the 19-15 Knicks, will Jalen Brunson make his first all-star appearance?

This season in 34 games played, Brunson has averaged about 25 points, four rebounds, six assists, and a steal a game in 36 minutes of action. Last night in a 116-100 win over the Chicago Bulls, Jalen Brunson put up 38 points, three rebounds, and 13 assists in 38 minutes. During the Knicks New Year’s Day win over the Timberwolves, Brunson totaled 14 assists. Jalen’s high assist numbers over the last two games show how much the offense flows through him, and how he wants his new teammates to make an immediate impact. New York has a tough game ahead of them against the Philadelphia 76ers, if they can pull off the win and then go into Washington DC, and defeat the Wizards, this Knicks team will climb their way back up in the Eastern Conference standings.

On December 15th, Brunson went on to score a career-high 50 points, going nine for nine from three-point range, along with having six rebounds, nine assists, and five steals in a win against the Phoenix Suns. If Jalen Brunson didn’t break out in your eyes last season, he certainly is this season and deserves the recognition for leading a Knicks organization that has been atrocious the past two decades. Their 19-15 record has them tied for seventh in the East, they’re a half-game back from taking the fourth seed. New York has the talent and the potential to make something happen this season, and with Brunson putting up great performances night after night, will he make his first all-star appearance in 2024?
