Will There Be a Subway Series?
There has been much talk around the MLB about who will advance to the World Series this year. As the playoffs go on, many teams have stepped forward to try and move ahead. However, many teams have already been eliminated from the playoffs. Currently, there are only four teams left. Still standing are teams such as the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cleveland Guardians. There is not much left to work with in the American and National League Championship Series. Many MLB fans have hoped for a Subway Series in this year's World Series, often talking about the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
This is when two teams from the same city play against each other, in this case, the Yankees and the Mets. It's happening because both teams are based in New York. The last time this type of series occurred was in the early 2000s, and the Yankees won. Thus, the name is the “Subway Series.” During that time, the city was decorated. They spent time decorating the subways. Several trains were decorated to represent the Mets with their classic blue and orange colors. On the other hand, the Yankees had several trains decorated with their classic blue and white pinstripes.
The Yankees are hoping to advance to the World Series. They have won their first two games over the Guardians. Aaron Judge has stepped up a few times to ensure that this series has gone smoothly for them. The pitchers have also been stepping in to cover to ensure the Guardians don’t get too many runs in. The Yankees are ahead of their series against Cleveland with a 2-0 series lead. If the Yankees beat Cleveland two more times, they will be headed off to the World Series.
The Mets, on the other hand, are a different story. They have been trying their best but seem to have trouble getting ahead of the Dodgers. They’ve overcome the other teams that have played. The Dodgers currently have a 2-1 lead over the Mets. They will play them again tonight, and this game will decide whether the Mets will go down into a 3-1 series hole or even the series up. The Dodgers will put in Yoshinobu Yamamoto as their pitcher, and the Mets will trot out Jose Quintana. If the Mets lose this upcoming game, they will put themselves in a tough spot to come back and advance to the World Series. However, they can surprise their fans though.
Fans will be interested in seeing what happens. They haven’t had a World Series like this in over 20 years. If this were the case, it would be a fun time for everyone involved. Only several fans can hope that their team pulls through. If not, a different outcome and a quieter World Series may be ahead.
