WWE Backlash 2025 Is Going to Mexico
Paul "Triple H" Levesque has announced that WWE Backlash will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, at the CDMX Arena in 2025. This marks a significant moment for wrestling fans, as it will be the first WWE live show in Mexico in 14 years. WWE aims to build on the success of the last two Backlash events, which were held outside of the United States. With this event, WWE looks to celebrate the rich history of Lucha Libre.
WWE Backlash is typically the Premium Live Event following WrestleMania, and the past two years have set a high standard. In 2023, the event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, featured a street fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest as the show stealer. Meanwhile, in 2024, fans were treated to an incredible main event between newly crowned WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defending against A.J. Styles in Lyon, France. Both events received praise for their energetic crowds and high-quality matches, setting the stage for what fans can expect in Mexico.
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has expressed his desire for a Premium Live Event in Mexico, making this announcement particularly special. There is a slight possibility he will be featured heavily in the build-up to the show. Maybe a World Championship match? In 2023, WWE held a total of five PLEs outside of the U.S., and in 2024, with eight. They have shown more interest in using the first “W” in WWE, and their trip to Mexico in 2025 is only the next step.
