2022 NFL Rushing Leader Signs to the Packers

NFL

After an incredible 2022 season, Josh Jacobs and the rest of the Las Vegas Raiders struggled during the 2023 season. At one point, Las Vegas was 5-5 but lost three straight games which held them back from being in the AFC playoff hunt. Jacobs was the 2022 NFL rushing leader and many believed his game would only improve in 2023, but after a rough start and eventually dealing with two deep bone contusions that restricted his range of motion, which led to him missing the last four games of the season. Now healthy and a free agent, Josh Jacobs has signed a deal with the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs struggled to find his footing in 2023. If you look at his 2022 and 2023 seasons, it’s like staring at two different pictures. Josh recorded 1,653 rushing yards while being named the 2022 NFL rushing leader, but in 2023 he ran for only 805 yards. During Week Two in a 38-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, out of nine carries Jacobs recorded negative two yards. He only rushed over 100 yards two times out of the 13 games he appeared in. The two-time Pro Bowl running back averaged 62 yards on the ground this season compared to 97 yards during his 2022 campaign. At just 25 years of age, if Josh Jacobs can find his footing in this new system, he’ll look to add another Pro Bowl and perhaps lead the league in rushing for the second time to his resume next season.

While playing in 13 games this past season, Jacobs rushed the ball 233 times resulting in 805 yards. He had six rushing touchdowns while being targeted 54 times for 296 passing yards. His best game of the season was during Week 10 against the New York Jets. The 2022 NFL rushing leader had 27 carries for 116 yards in a 16-12 win. He also had twenty rushing attempts for 110 yards and a touchdown during a 31-17 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s been named a Pro Bowl running back twice while being named to the First-team All-Pro in 2022.
