Huff Cashes in on Big Contract After Breakout Year

NFL

Going into the 2023 season Bryce Huff was seen as a good backup edge rusher and not really much more than that. Through the first three years of his career, he recorded seven and a half total sacks and was coming into the past season without a true role on a dominant Jets front seven. Yet, no one expected what was to come Huff would go on to have a career year recording 10 sacks. As well this season he was rated by Pro Football Focus as one of the top edge rushers. Going into free agency he was ranked as the 18th best free agent and due to his age and recent success he was in line to get a massive contract.

Coming out of college the dominant edge rusher was a force for the Memphis football team. His tackle-for-loss numbers were off the charts as he recorded 35 total in his last two years of college. This got him an invite to the NFL Combine where he did not have too eye-opening of a performance causing him to go undrafted. Huff however still found a way to complete his dream of playing in the big leagues. He would go on to sign with the Detroit Lions after the draft but by the start of his rookie season was on the Jets.

With the Eagles, he will look to build off his breakout year and be a household name for the first time in his career. The new Eagle signed a three-year deal worth up to 51 million dollars, which is very impressive for someone who was not drafted. Huff will look to prove the ā€¦ made the right choice paying him that hefty amount. At the start of the 2024 season, Huff will be 26 meaning he has plenty of years of quality football left. Hopefully, this will not be his last big contract.
