Can the Browns Take A Leap in 2025?

NFL

The Cleveland Browns finished with three wins in 2025. With All-Pros Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett still in the fold, there’s no time to waste. They have a roster that underachieved last year and as they hit rock bottom, they can only go up. With the second overall pick, they should take the most talented player available, or, they can trade down the pick for a pair of picks that can land them NFL ready players to make an impact on the team.

With Deshaun Watson injured, there will be a quarterback battle in training camp. With signs of Chubb moving on, there will be an open competition for the starting running back job. Jerry Jeudy, coming off a 1,000-yard season, has established himself as the number one wide receiver. Cleveland will still need speed and a jump ball machine in the receiving department. The guards, Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller, are the anchors of the Browns offensive line. They are a year older and that may lead to the Browns’ decline on the front line. They are elite at pulls on run blocks and nail their gap assignments. What made them good for so long was their ability to trap defenders on double teams and allow the running backs to make plays in space. Bitonio and Teller are great at making lead blocks, as well as legal chop blocks when they go low at the defender.

Cleveland has a superstar in Garrett and while he is also an older player with his best days behind him, he can still certainly make an impact. Cleveland’s biggest factor will be Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who is currently injured. Owusu-Koramoah is a tackling machine that can get to the quarterback while having a smaller frame for a linebacker. Cleveland loves to play man coverage with their Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward, as well as Greg Newsome and Martin Emerson. Cleveland is a team that does not blitz as much and they love to play aggressive man coverage when they have seven defenders in pass coverage. While Cleveland may not take a playoff leap, they can make a noticeable leap in the number of wins.
