Four-Time Pro Bowler Signs to the Texans

NFL

During the 2020, and 2021 NFL seasons, four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter suffered a season-ending surgery to clean up a herniated disk in his back, and a torn pectoral muscle. Hunter signed a one-year deal to come back to the Minnesota Vikings in 2023 and showed he still has what it takes, as he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month in October. Today, it was just announced Danielle has signed a two-year deal for 49 million dollars, with 48 million being guaranteed by Hunter’s hometown team, the Houston Texans. With the Texans, he’ll hope to prove to everyone he has plenty left in the tank.

Hunter attended college at Louisiana State University from 2012-2014, where he was a two-year starter. He had over 140 tackles, four sacks, and 20 tackles for loss of yardage during his three years at LSU. Danielle would go on to declare for the NFL Draft in 2015. The Vikings selected the four-time Pro Bowler in the third round as the 88th pick. During his rookie season, he was the youngest player in the NFL, but quickly transitioned to how they play in the NFL, as he was ranked second for the team in sacks.

Last season, the four-time Pro Bowler played in all 17 games for Minnesota. He recorded 83 combined tackles, 54 solo, and 29 assisted, to go along with 23 tackles for loss of yardage, 16 and a half sacks, and two pass deflections. Danielle’s best game of the season was during a Week Two loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hunter had eight combined tackles, five solo, and three assisted tackles, with three sacks which resulted in a loss of yardage, in a 34-28 loss. This past season was Danielle Hunter’s fifth time getting ten or more sacks in a single season.
