Super Bowl LV Champion Linebacker Resigns with the Bucs

NFL

It has been reported that three-time All-Pro Lavonte David has signed a one-year deal worth up to 10 million dollars from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. David is coming once again off a great year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he recorded 86 solo tackles which was ranked 10th in the league. David going into the 2024 season will be 34 years old which brings up many concerns as many off-ball linebackers tend to fall off a cliff when reaching similar ages. David was drafted in the same draft as both Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly making it one of the best linebacker classes of all time. All three of them have a great case for the NFL Hall of Fame.

In the three-time All-Pro career, he has been a dominant force for the defense and looks to continue with this dominance going into his 13th season in the NFL. David in his years in the NFL has recorded over 100 total tackles in 10 out of 12 of his years showing how consistent he is as a player. David is often trusted with guarding star tight ends throughout the league 1v1. In the two playoff games this year David limited star tight end Dallas Goedert to 21 yards as well as Sam Laporta to only 65 yards. This is what makes him so valuable to franchises across the NFL as many linebackers can make plays in the run game but many struggle in pass coverage. The three-time All-Pro looks to continue his dominance in the back end of his career and add to his Hall of Fame resume. David can be a very good player in the correct defensive scheme for years to come and his impact on the Buccaneers defense will be noticed immediately.
