Giants vs. Saints Week 14: Battle for the First Overall Pick?

NFL

There are five more Giants games left for this season. This coming week, the Giants will take on the New Orleans Saints. This game doesn’t look promising but with the decision that was made to start Drew Lock. That said, things may start to turn around for the Giants who currently sit at 2-10 despite the season being nearly over for them. There are a few things that the Giants need to do while they are on the field this weekend. The Saints have not had a great game this season either and they currently have a 4-8 record. There may still be a chance that the Giants can move up instead of into a deeper hole that they are already in. Either way, both of these teams could certainly be in a position to receive the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with a loss. The Giants and the Saints first met in October of 1967 and have met a total of 32 times over the years. The Giants currently lead this series with a record of 17-15. These two teams have never met in the postseason.

What the Giants need to do this coming weekend is make sure the ball lands in the hands of Malik Nabers. Nabers has been doing his best and has been making it a point on the field to let his quarterback know when he is wide open. Nabers has also told the media time and time again that he wants the ball. Fans want to see something explosive happen from him because they haven’t in several weeks and everyone knows what he is capable of.

The Giants also need to make sure that the ball is secure. There have been several games where the ball has been dropped by multiple receivers and it is not a good look for the Giants. Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been big on this and unfortunately so has Nabers. If they could make the difference it would be a whole new world of opportunities for the Giants.

The Giants are also dealing with a broken defensive line currently. Dexter Lawrence is currently out for the rest of the season and Brian Burns has been both on and off of the field throughout the season. The players that are on the field keep leaving openings for their opponents. They need to step up and make those stops and the Giants need to find a way to fix the line before anything else happens. Half of their defensive line is currently injured, so they will have to find ways to make it work. The Giants will manage one way or another.
