Ranking the Best Thanksgiving Games to Watch
Thanksgiving football is always a special time for football fans as they feast and enjoy football all day long with some of the best teams in action. This day to football fans is similar to how NBA fans feel about Christmas Day games. With the Cowboys and Lions always playing on Thanksgiving, NFL fans have gotten used to exciting games in recent years with lots of intrigue surrounding these teams. With three exciting matchups on the docket for tomorrow, which matchups are the ones that football fans should look the most forward to?
1. Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
In an intense NFC North Division, we get treated to an exciting NFC North matchup to start our Thanksgiving Day. This will not only be the first game of the day but also the most interesting of the day. Caleb Williams hasn’t gotten featured much on national television as the Bears haven’t played on primetime too much this season, so this will be a big stage for him and the Bears. Over the next six weeks, they have four divisional games, so this will be a true test to determine if Caleb Williams and this Bears team can compete with these other NFC North teams. Meanwhile, the Lions have looked borderline unstoppable, with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery running wild this season. They are 10-1 on the season, and they look like the best team in the NFL right now. This game is an opportunity for the Bears to show that they made the right decision, taking Caleb Williams first overall in the draft, or it could serve as an opportunity for the Lions to show they are the best team in the NFL.
2. Miami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers
Both of these teams are riding high on several straight victories. The Dolphins, at times, can be an explosive offense, but how well will it actually be in the freezing temperatures of Green Bay? Both Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa are trying to will their teams to the playoffs and further prove that they deserved the big contract extensions that they got this offseason. Green Bay has been a dominant force in the NFC this season, but the NFC North is extremely strong. In fact, their only losses this season have come at the hands of their divisional opponents. Can Green Bay continue to beat up on non-divisional opponents, or will they slip further behind the Vikings and the Lions in the race for the NFC North crown?
3. New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
Typically, I would be extremely intrigued by a Thanksgiving game featuring the Dallas Cowboys, but neither team in this matchup has their main quarterback playing in this game. The Giants recently moved on from Daniel Jones and have given the reins to Tommy DeVito. The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott to a season-ending injury a few weeks ago, and now Cooper Rush is leading “America’s Team.” With neither side featuring a standout quarterback, this game's main implications will be to help determine the NFL Draft order in April. The Cowboys have had a massively disappointing season, and the Giants are borderline unwatchable, as always. So, this game may be interesting to watch to see who can unsuccessfully tank for a better draft pick by winning this game.
