Three Potential Challengers for Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship
This past Saturday at SummerSlam, Bron Breakker defeated Sami Zayn to become the new Intercontinental Champion. It was to be expected sooner rather than later that it would be Breakker’s time to become champion because he's been dominating ever since he arrived in WWE. He lost the first go around against Sami Zayn at Money in the Bank last month, then he got his redemption at the party of the summer. Next week on Raw, Breaker is set to defend the Intercontinental Championship in a rematch against Sami Zayn. But with a new champion comes a new set of challengers that’ll be looking to take the title away from Bron Breakker. Some of which have unfinished business, and some of which have never stepped in the ring with a dominant force like Bron Breakker.
Sheamus
These two certainly have unfinished business to settle as they’ve gone one-on-one in the past, but the match was interrupted by Ludwig Kaiser, who attacked Sheamus from behind to cause a disqualification. Breakker and Sheamus in the ring are both fierce and brutal competitors who would tear each other to shreds if a match between the two went the distance. Another fact to consider is that the one title Sheamus has never won is the Intercontinental Championship, and winning it would make “The Celtic Warrior” a grand slam champion. The last time Sheamus had an Intercontinental Championship match was Clash at the Castle in 2022, where Sheamus was defeated by “The Ring General” Gunther.
Ludwig Kaiser
Like Sheamus, Ludwig Kaiser also has some unfinished business with Breakker. These two have gone one-on-one in the past, but like what Kaiser did to Sheamus during his match with Breakker, Sheamus wanted to give Kaiser a taste of his own medicine and attack him from behind during Kaiser’s match with Breakker to cause a disqualification. Since then, Ludwig Kaiser hasn’t been seen much on television until last night on Raw when he introduced “The Ring General” Gunther as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Ludwig Kaiser is a superstar who’s in need of a bigger push considering that he’s been the right hand man to Gunther in Imperium. Kaiser facing off against Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship could give him that push that he deserves.
Ilja Dragunov
If there is a man who wants to get revenge on Bron Breakker for taking him out, it’s Ilja Dragunov. These two faced off two weeks ago on Raw to see who would be the #1 Contender for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. Bron Breakker won the match via referee stoppage when Breakker speared Dragonuv so hard outside the ring that Dragunov hit the back of his head on the ring apron. Dragunov couldn’t continue, so the referee had to stop the match and declare Bron Breakker the winner and #1 Contender for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. When Ilja Dragunov comes back, he’ll be gunning straight for Bron Breakker and the Intercontinental Championship.
