Two Matches Announced for Saturday Night’s Main Event in San Antonio
On the second episode of an action-packed Monday Night Raw on Netflix, two matches were announced for Saturday Night’s Main Event in San Antonio on January 25th. After picking up the win, Sheamus would stare down Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker at the end of his match with Ludwig Kaiser. It was then announced on the 25th, that Sheamus would be facing Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. Then, when cutting a promo in the ring, Gunther would be interrupted by ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso who officially challenged ‘The Ring General’ to a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event for the World Heavyweight Championship. The other matches for this card have not been announced yet and we may have to wait until Friday Night SmackDown or the next episode of Monday Night Raw to see who else will appear at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
For the past few years, many have wanted to see Sheamus become a grand slam champion. He’s been a three-time WWE Champion, a one-time World Heavyweight Champion, plus a three-time United States Champion, and he has won five tag team titles between both Raw and SmackDown. He also won the King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, and the 2012 Royal Rumble. The only championship missing from his resume is the Intercontinental Championship. Sheamus signed a five-year extension with WWE recently, and with the Irish superstar staying for the long term, the Intercontinental Championship should be in his sights now and in the near future. Bron Breakker has steadily made a name for himself over the past year since being drafted from NXT to Monday Night Raw. Breakker, a two-time Intercontinental Champion has the chance to do great things in 2025. Perhaps if the son of Rick Steiner drops the title to Sheamus at Saturday Night’s Main Event, we see Breakker go for something like the World Heavyweight Championship. The feud between Sheamus, Breakker, and even Ludwig Kaiser has gone on for months. The three of them fought back at Survivor Series: WarGames in a triple-threat match where Breakker retained his title. Can Sheamus hold the one championship he’s been waiting on his entire career, or will Breakker retain and possibly hold the title till WrestleMania?
Just like Bron Breakker, ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso is poised for great things in 2025. After shocking fans months ago when he won the Intercontinental Championship, Jey is looking to break the ceiling once more with a World Heavyweight Championship run. Gunther called out the entire Raw locker room for not being up to his standards and looked surprised to see Jey challenge him for his title. Many want to see Jey win his first World Championship. He tore the roof off the Intuit Dome when he came out with Travis Scott on the premiere episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. As one of the top, if not the top babyface in the WWE, it would be well deserved to see Jey Uso win the World Heavyweight Championship. The big question is, does this happen at Saturday Night’s Main Event, or further down the road? Can he be the one to put an end to Gunther’s reign?
